The Alphabet of Movies

I wanted to have twenty six pictures (A-Z) to make up the alphabet of the movies, but lethargy and uncertainty of the success of such a quiz made me cut them down to a few. If people like this, I'll make another. I need to know who I am talking about from A to R. If you can figure out who/what I'm talking about, you'll find the actual picture in the first two pages of Google image searches. And here's the pictures.

BTW, (A) doesn't mean the answer of the clue starts with (A) or anything like that. I could have numbered the clues 1-25, but that would have been less fun.

(A)

(A) above was a very succesful movie. Both the lead actor and actress won the Academy award. The movie was a little different from the usual. Of course, the lead character (Q) in (A) is one of the most famous actors in hollywood.

Let's take (Q) along three paths which may cross later.

(Q) in 2004 acted in a romantic comedy (B) shown in the picture below. I believe it was a mild hit.

The lead actress in (B) was (C). She is a very very well-known actress in Hollywood and has a really long movie career. In fact, she also played a role in one of the most famous movies of all time - (D) - shown in the picture below.

She played the wife of the character played by (E) shown below.

By the way, the picture of (E) above is the cover of the movie (R). Can you tell me what (R) is ?

Anyway, in the sequel to (D), there were two great actors of all time. (E) of course, played the same role again. But, (F) played the role of (E)'s father. Let me tell you again, (E) and (F) are among the most reputed Hollowood personnel today.

(F) also starred with (H) in a comedy movie (G) which is shown below. (G) was supposed to reflect the real life politics at that time.

(H) of course is still famous for his role in (I) shown below. The picture is enough to know what movie it is!!!

Ok enough of this line. Let's go back. (Q) identified earlier played an amazing role in a horror movie (J) shown below.

Of course, (J) was written by the great (K), known for horror movies. (K) also wrote a book on which a non-horror, award winning movie (L) was based. (L) is shown below.

One of the characters in (L) was played by (M) shown below.

(M) in turn played a very very small role in the movie (P) shown below.

Of course, the lead actor in (P) is (O). You have to know who (O) is if you like movies. You know (O) is also known for jumping while (S) was watching. That jump is in the next picture. Who is (S) ???

And finally of course, (Q) thought that (O) "can't handle ...." in (N) below.

Extra points for telling me what he couldn't handle!!!

1. One of the persons has made an appearance on quizote before.
2. Professions (current or ex) of three of them are the same.
3. The profession of the person mentioned in #1 is not the same as anybody else's in this group.
4. Professions of two of them are fairly obvious.

Another one on the lines of Nikhil's quiz. All the pictures are related. Some clues may be incomplete, some clues may not be direct (will need to infer something from the result). Enjoy!

Another Hint for (4) : If (1), (2) and (3) is "X", is (4) also "X" ? Seems like it, but, is he ??
Hint for (4) : The flag has a star, the star is lonely. Oh the lone star!!!

Update : For the fourth : It's still related to the first three. Movie buffs will get it. I'll add another hint once more people have a chance to solve it.
Oh, and extra marks if you identify who the person in the first picture of the third clue is. Rather, I'd like to know if you had to even use that part of the clue at all.

We are going to try something different today. Kram gave me this idea, thanks to him for thinking of Quizote when he came across one such quiz. I will post three pictures. You have to figure out the answers. Tell me what I am trying to do here. We will fine tune the rules for such quizzes later.

Well, I have another quiz ready! The last one was pretty easy, hopefully this one is more challenging. The idea here is similar. There are a series of photos each of them linked to the previous in the some manner. As in the last one, you need to identify all the people and the relations.

OK! So, I finally get some time to post a quiz of my own! Sorry Nikhil, I haven't had time recently to look at the other quizzes (though instead of arguing about Salman etc., I could have spent those 5 minutes trying to solve the quizzes!)

Clue for #1: This Very Stylishly dressed couple is on their honeymoon. This picture was also used to promote the tourism there.(Sometimes you google, sometimes you yahoo. I had saved this image long time ago and even I could not find the original image through google. Yahoo found it from me. The page that has the image can be searched through google also.)

After some consideration, I have decided to try comment moderation. This is how it will work.

1. When you comment here on quizote, you will not be able to see your comment immediately. It will be mailed to me and I can post it immediately or hold it for a while in case it has the solution.

2. This is to prevent the solution being made public before someone else has a chance to even look at the problem. If the solution is already posted, people do not have that much inclination to solve it. It could be curiosity or the fact that even if they take less time than someone else to solve it, it will not be the same.

3. But if you comment and if your comment does not have the solution, I will put it on the blog at my earliest.

4. I will update the comments with who has solved the puzzles so far. This way we can have multiple winners for one picture. But you will not know the solution until you solve it or I post the comments that had the solution.

5. I will publish all the posted solutions when enough people have solved it or enough time has passed or enough people have asked for the solution. This will be on a per puzzle basis. We can decide rules about this later.

I will let this post be at top for a day. I will change the comments thing when I post the next set of pictures. Lets try and see how it works.

A Picture Quiz in words

A family of parents and kids.

The only woman is dressed in white but she is not the only one in white.

The rest are dressed in black.

The number of people in black, the number of people in white and the total number of people in the picture are all prime numbers.

Can you find such a picture?

Clue 1:
Most, if not all, Indians would know all the men in that picture.

Clue 2:
The father was pretty successful in what he did. Suffered some setbacks but carried on. The sons followed in his footsteps. Not everybody enjoyed the same level of popularity.

Blogger is having some trouble with uploading images for last few days. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. I was able to upload images after a few tries. Hope you have fun!

When I was, IIRC, in first standard, Dad taught me a way to draw "Ganapati-bappa". I used it in at least a couple of drawing competitions. I still remember it and I will start the picture blog with it. I used MSWord to draw this. It used to be just like this but all corners were rounded, that gave it a softer feel. No quiz on this one though :)
